> INTRODUCTION: WHO THE HELL YOU ARE TO JUDGE LIKE THAT? Here we`ll dive into IT industry and what is happening in it recently and we`ll surely dot the i`s and cross the t`s in this not-so-brief note and close questions related to this department ones and for all. My computer knowledge starts from MSDOS 5.0 era, so i have a solid understanding of how computers are working and where they lead us. Currently i`m involved into the web development, doing websites, services and applications. My specialty is JavaScript, i am not saying that i'm some kind of guru, but i definitely have sufficient amount of knowledge to do many things, even without the help of various frameworks. Also i am a microstock addict contributor, so i know how the lines and shapes should be placed to make it look beautiful. Now, when you have a solid understanding of who i am we can return to the main topic of this post. > WHY COMPUTERS ARE NOT FUN ANYMORE? SOME VINTAGE RANTING ON THE TOPIC I will not going to stop for a long time here, so we can faster reach the most essential things of this note. Most of computing fun was taken from us by so-called "progress". Previously we have luxury of choosing from plethora amounts of various manufactures. Components integration? Back then nobody had heard of such things. Dedicated network cards, audio cards, multitude of non standard graphics cards, various addon devices. Era lasted right until early 00s. Operating systems were written in low level languages, frameworks were non existent. Achieving good performance and stability were a key factors of the computing. As of 2026, almost all above mentioned features are not with us, so that is why it is not fun anymore. > ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IS A "BREAKTHROUGH" OR JUST A FLOOP ON THE HYPE Most of you already know about recent achievements in artificial intelligence and its' popularity among people. I must admit that in some cases it can be really useful, but mentality of people is quite simple: if you invent something you should integrate tech into as many areas as you can. Especially if it brings a big profit. What is more important is that many people will lose their jobs by the 2030, because of AI. The amount of jobs that will be replaced is staggering. Starting from tellers, drivers, any kind of support jobs, translators, legal advices, doctors and of course developers. I named only those professions that come to mind in the first place, but there is plenty of more out there. Ah, and yeah, i forgot about creativity. AI just ruins it. From now on humans are free from thinking, creating and designing. So musicians and painters can be also counted as things of the past. Demise of online courses/platforms dedicated to web development is inevitable too. Currently i'm preparing quite an interesting story for you, based upon my personal experience. Hold your breath, i'll post it in a while. Ok then, back to the main topic. My main idea of the good use of AI is to free people from unwanted work. But not art and creativity. They should stay untouchable no matter what. Art is a man's prerogative and not the machine's one. Period. > THE VIBE PSEUDO "CODERS" & THEIR ROLE IN THE OVERHYPED PROCESS Image capture from the legendary movie "Ideocracy" precisely describes overall "vibe" of those people. I've seen couple of such individuals and this is quite laughable how they pretend to be programmers just by doing prompts to the AI machine. Not even knowing the basics of computer science. It is OK to use AI for learning purposes and for a part of the job you can't handle by yourself, but to use it everywhere you can is just universally stupid. > MEANINGLESS "SPEED RACE" OR THE TRUE MEANING OF THE FRAMEWORKS I'll start from the point of hardware here. To do things faster people invent new sophisticated chips to do their math and science substantially faster than previous generations. By the 2030 all CPU and chip manufactures will hit the wall of physics by reaching 0.5nm lithography tech. This will give them approximately 2-3 times boost in performance and calculations. But funny fact that actually no boost is happening because of increasing overhead of various high level technologies. So, actually things are not speeding, they are staying on the same level due to worsening software and dumb vibe coding. Hidden truth is that corps are in love with frameworks so they could easily layoff you without fear of not understanding your custom written JavaScript by the next worker after you. They do not need security or privacy or ergonomics, all they need is an ability to hire next developer who will do things in framework syntax, so he/she be layed off in a while due to say inefficiency. Experienced JavaScript developers during work buildup their own snippets of code that can be potentially formed into their own frameworks. So i don't see any point in learning new frameworks, because somebody uses them. Sooner or later because of the rapid tech change, all these shiny new technologies will go out of fashion and become useless. To keep yourself in the flow you should always learn something and you still will be not up to today's standards. You would say "is learning a good thing to do?" and I will answer: "of course", but not in a such insane & rabid tempo. Such "learning" lifestyle, when you can't keep up with a progress is leading to inevitable burn out, that is why you can see phenomenas when developer becomes a farmer. And prefer to mess around with rabbits on the distant farm rather then dealing with another crazed bone-headed framework. > "GOLDEN INFLUENCERS" OF IT & THEIR MAMA/PAPA`S BOYS TOP MANAGERS BIG COPROS. PROFIT. EFFICIENCY. KPI. SPEED. THAT'S ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THEM OpenAI lays off the workers who implemented core AI tools: https://www.cnbc.com/2025/10/22/meta-layoffs-ai.html Trend of laying off personal staff especially in the IT industry is the most hot topic of almost already passed 2025. Being a logical person to think through current situation i must admit that actually CEO's and all those fancy top managers can be easily replaced by AI. They are the first candidates for the replacement, because their contribution to the working process utterly marginal. All these billionaires like Mask and Zukerberg and their servants following their insane patterns of devaluing people's skills and experiences surely lost their touch with reality in pursuit for money. They are driving people to inevitable major catastrophe. I have no doubts about it. It's just crystal clear. Not every country in the world would be capable of paying it's citizens unconditional income. Countries with autocratic regimes will surely not doing it at all. Hoards of unemployed people will be nomading the streets. I think that they just don't give a sh#t because they already sucked from the planet insane amounts of money, enough to sustain countless future generations. But frankly speaking, i am not interested in their personalities, because they already outlived their best ideas. And what they are doing right now is a harm to a civilization or they just following the lead of someone else above them. In the beginning there were people in the white science coats, they ruled industrial computers that occupied multiple rooms. They didn't just have good salaries; they were also quite respected individuals. Wow, hold on, that was too way back, lets start over again. In the beginning of the industry decline there were separated duties like frontend developer, backend developer, devops, product tester and so on. Then corporations decided to merge front & back duties [to save money], after that they added automation tester on top of fontend and backend duties. Next step is quite predictable: there will be a Frontend-Backend-DevOps-Tester-Designer in one man using their AI. Of course, due to this, his salary will be reduced by a significant margin. So modern requirements of the big tech companies tend to be stricter and stricter each year. But, what is more important [i fill cozy and warm inside me] they don't get the best of the crop, because best of the best like to work on the things they like to work and nothing else. Such people are not selling their freedom and ability to do creative things for pitiful moneys. > WE CAN ALWAYS DO COMPUTING AND DEVELOPMENT JUST FOR FUN, RIGHT? That was a long one! But i think it was worth it. In the end of the day, i'll continue to do web development no matter what. But in my personal pace, preserving creativity and human sense.
