SWITCHING FROM FIREFOX ICEWEASEL TO FIREFOX MERCURY

SWITCHING FROM FIREFOX ICEWEASEL TO FIREFOX MERCURY

After some investigations and internal considerations i’ve decided to ditch [Iceweasel] in favor to [Mercury] .
The main reasons are [not-so good performance] even among Firefox forks and pretty shady Chinese origin of software.
Firefox Mercury can be obtained from [Github repository] .
Author of the fork promised full 115 ESR support till autumn of 2024.
So we are future proof here.

In the end of the day we’ll see what happens next and what to do with it.
I’m not even excluding the situation that Windows 7 users will be forced to use chrome-based browsers.
Luckily there is already promising one, i’m talking about [Supermium] .
It’s a modern chrome recompile for Windows 7 machines and it is even faster than [Firefox Mercury] .
Also, it is worth to keep an eye on [Chrome Thorium] , very fast chrome builds based around version 109.
Hope that author will somehow switch to more modern code base, like Supermium did.

Do you know that you can change ugly gigantic Firefox scroll-bars?
This could be done via trusty about:config tool. Just find following parameter:

widget.non-native-theme.scrollbar.style

And change it from:

0

To:

1,2 or 3
