SMALL STURDY PHONE WITH GREAT CAMERA AND BATTERY LIFE ▀ IS IT POSSIBLE?
Somewhere in the previous posts i have already done [small rant]
regarding the desired specification of modern smartphone.
After fiddling around with the latest [Oppo Find X6 Pro]
aka the best modern cameraphone,
i come to a conclusion with myself on how the smartphone specification of my dreams should look like.
Consider this as a revisited version of the previous document.
And yeah, you will surely see the Oppo review in a while when i free myself up from the daily routine.
Is somebody gonna give me 48 hours in a day or not?
If for some unknown and bizarre reason i was assigned to the position of lead smartphone developer i would design the most
unique and more importantly the most practical smartphone to date.
Which has led all sorts of apples and samsungs with their iffy designs to inevitable closures followed by upcoming bankruptcy.
Ok, jokes aside, back to the reality.
Gigabytes, gigahertz and all other tekno-fetish crap are not that really important, leave them to hardware wankers.
I fine-tuned my wish list and narrowed it down to the most essential things.
Here is a detailed breakdown. From the most significant to the least.
►FEATURE | ►HARDWARE | ►BENEFIT |
---|---|---|
Screen | < 4.8" Matte | ergonomics & handling |
Battery | interchangeable >=6000mAh | autonomy & portability |
Camera | 1"/24Mpix/DNG 1 | picture quality |
Protection | IP68 [dust/water proof] | trip/travel compatible |
Storage | easy accessible SD-card 2 | convenience & upgrade ability |
Operating system | debloated Linux or Android | fully controllable by user |
Audio output | 3.5mm jack | ability to connect hi-fi earphones |
I’m still amused by the fact that there is no honorable small modern phone that’s better than aging [Sony XZ1 Compact]
.
Recently released [Unihertz Jelly Max]
is only 30% faster, has questionable screen and awful camera.
On the bright side of things it is dirt cheap and has a good battery life.
It is understandable that they are on a budget and this is a Kickstarter for God’s sake, but it’s not solid enough for me to do an “upgrade” from the mighty XZ1 Compact.
Ok, i am done for today.
