I am not even going to poke the game for its enormous amount of bugs and atrocious performance, even on relatively powerful machines. Frankly speaking, there are loads of other reasons that are unacceptable to die-hard fans of the original S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Here’s a quick breakdown of the whys. GLOBAL THINGS TO MENTION The story isn’t even remotely close to the quality of the original S.T.A.L.K.E.R [Stalker 2 is about messing around with faction relationships, not exploring the Zone world at all]

UPDATED ON: 2026-04-23 Some preface words: recently I’ve had a couple of attempts at trying to play Stalker 2. When I realized that I can’t handle the game, I decided to give it a try by watching a let’s play. After wasting almost 4 hours watching a let’s play from a trusted streamer, I fully understand that playing or watching this game is beyond my comprehension. Moreover, in a half an hour I realized that I completely and fully forgot about the excellent Stalker: Shadow Of Chernobyl [OGSR modification] .

One more S.T.A.L.K.E.R. posting if you don’t mind. Mods and [modern versions] are nice, but classic [Stalker series] shouldn’t be forgotten too. Here is a list of classic games. [Shadow of Chernobyl] ► original first version of Stalker game series [the most atmospheric & my favorite one] [Clear Sky] ► prequel to Shadow of Chernobyl [Call of Pripyat] ► sequel to Shadow of Chernobyl Vivid table, which conveniently represents games from the most buggy to the less buggy.

As a big fan of [Stalker series] i can’t afford myself to skip such title as [Stalker: Update] . It is Russian actively developed ambitious remake of classic [Stalker] based upon modern [OGSR] modification with many substantial changes like: vastly improved graphics quality incredible weather system [summer/autumn/winter] fine-tuning of game balance more detailed models and items remastered audio and much, much more It is almost one-man-project, so please be patient.

[Fallout 1/2] [X-COM: Enemy Unknown] [Transport Tycoon Deluxe] [Tyrian 2000] [Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl] [Civilization II] [Diablo I] [The Incredible Machine III] If you would like to play these games on modern computer you are in luck, coz most of them were forked to open-source or remastered versions. [Fallout Restoration] [OpenXcom] / Extended version [OpenTTD] [OpenTyrian] [Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl OGSR] [Civilization II:Test of Time] [Diablo II: Resurrected] And yeah, no cyberpunk 2077 here.

While STALKER 2 announced to be delayed, [again] . It looks like that we have plenty of time to do one more run to an excellent [OGSR modification] of original [STALKER] . Classic post-apocalyptic survival-horor shooter with RPG elements. Original game was know for huge amount of bugs and glitches, so I recommend you to play-through OGSR mod, which fixes tons of bugs, adds new quests to main story-line, new weaponry, changes balance and adds convenience features.
