WHY THERE WILL NEVER BE AN IPHONE IN MY POCKET?

WHY THERE WILL NEVER BE AN IPHONE IN MY POCKET?

iPhone was always highly overrated and overpriced piece of hardware.
I remember ramblings from 2013 times when sellout sites like dpreview stated that iPhone was the best camera-phone ever.
Of course it was a complete lie right until iPhone 15, with it’s decent camera quality, but not in all scenarios of course.

So no mambo-jambo here, let’s go straight to the top and the most annoying disadvantages:

  • very limited file management [no ability to direct copy files to computer without dumb restrictions]
  • photo quality is not so good as in high-end 1" Chinese cameraphones
  • cheapskate policy regarding amount of RAM/storage space [even in top-end models]
  • obnoxious battery capacity [it’s their long-term corporate identity]
  • storage is not expandable [greed]
  • non standard charger port, no charger in starter package [greed]
  • very expensive compared to what the device delivers [greed]

Taking about downsides of software:

  • walled garden application eco system
  • almost no ability to install custom launcher
  • appalling notifications ergonomics
  • no custom ringtones? [for God’s sake we are in 2024!]

All-in-all, as you can see iPhone is not a option for advanced Android users who like to customize system for efficient use.

Ok, so what about the bright side? There are only two positive things about iPhone here:

  • better and more efficient applications in terms of code quality [big plus here]
  • good 3nm CPU which is on par with top-end Android CPUs [quite marginal advantage]

Looking at this disposition from above i can safely say that it is definitely not enough to pursue me
to purchase this device for permanent use, or to recommend this hardware to anyone except maybe housewives?

But what about gorgeous design you may ask? Ha!
Considering modern technologies it is done in a couple of clicks in CAD software.
They are all gray, soulless, boring rectangular bricks don’t you remember?

This is not a Finnish Nokia with it's div░rse rainbow of various designs.

In the end of the day, iPhone is a product for non-tech persons who would like to spend some money just because they can.
Nothing more to say here.
