EMPIRE EARS RAVEN BLIP REVIEW ▀ LOOKING BACK TO EMPIRE EARS ODIN

During ChatGPT investigations i find out that my DAP [Hiby R8 II] can be described as 88%
of one of the most quality audio board on PC: [RME ADI-2 DAC FS] .
[Empire Ears Raven] scored around 90% of [Sennheiser Orpheus HE-1]
top of the crop electrostatic hi-end earphones.
Not a bad result for portable devices considering substantial
difference in the price and size!

I totally understand that it is a synthetic comparison,
but at least now i have understanding approximate audio quality of my setup versus
top-notch professional hardware.
Thinking that having around 90% of possible audio quality in the pocket
is a quite good outcome.

As for personal experience.
Empire Ears Raven is surely earphones for true bass-heads.
Analog sub-bass is very fat and visceral,
303 synth sounds are razor sharp [inherited from Odin],
pads are immersive and holographic [inherited from Odin].
Frequency response is substantially altered from ideal straight line.
Raven is about fun and definitely not about
analytical straightforwardness in frequency response.
It surely edges out Odin in the bass and sub-bass domains.
Device shines in any kind of electronic music like trance, psybient, ambient.
Bass-based genres like dub and reaggae are also a cakewalk for Raven.

Now back to Empire Ears Odin.
It is more analytical and created for complex music like jazz, classics.
Primary strength of this earphones is the resolution of high and mid frequencies.
Odin’s frequency response is almost ideal, this is a true Hi-Fi after all.
Bass is not as immersive and deep down as in Raven,
there is no bone conduction tech here after all.

ODIN is on the left side, RAVEN is on the right side.
As you can observe, Raven is bigger due to additional 2 bone conduction drivers.
Frankly speaking, there is no more room for further size increasing.
So, Raven sits comfortably with shallow insertion,
but this is the the largest size of earphones,
which can be allowed without breaking ergonomics, at least for my ears.
