THE MOST ANTICIPATED CAMERAPHONES FEATURING AT LEAST 10X OPTICAL ZOOM AND EQUIPPED WITH A 200MP, 1/1.2" IMAGE SENSOR

UPDATED ON: 2025-09-24
Since 2025, every reputable cameraphone has featured a 1-inch main camera module.
Based upon my personal statistics main camera is used in less than 15% of cases,
since everything in the a close range have largely been covered through previous shoots.
The true innovation lies in periscope cameras with their ability to bring faraway objects closer to our eye.
Moreover, most of [selling photographs]
today are captured using these telescopic lenses.
A modest 5x optical zoom offered by models such as the [Xiaomi 15 Ultra]
no longer suffices for my needs.
I totally understand that it is not possible to have super-mega-telephoto thingy in your pocket,
because of the dimensions constrains of the portable factor.
Achieving 10x magnification is indeed feasible in modern smartphones, as exemplified by the [Huawei Pura 80]
.
But despite boasting a larger-than-standard 1/1.3" periscope sensor,
the Huawei failed to meet expectations primarily due to its low-resolution 12-megapixel output
combined with excessive artificial intelligence processing.
That is why we’ll surely see subsequent periscope improvements
by top cameraphone brands like: Xiaomi, Vivo and Oppo.
I suppose noticeable improvements in this area will arrive somewhere around 2026-2027.
Baubles from apple and samsung do not hold any potential at all,
since their products are using tiny sensors and they are not even reached 1" on the main camera.
So their offerings remain uninteresting for serious photographers given their reliance
on lesser sensors and already obsolete technology [quite typical for a cheapskate companies].
And the word “innovation” can’t be surely applied to those brands.
