FIREFOX VS SUPERMIUM ▀ JAVASCRIPT PERFORMANCE COMPARISON 2024

As you may know modern WEB is more and more dependent on JavaScript technology,
that is why JS performance is essential for modern browsers.
I have decided to throw the most important and interesting browsers into the pit, to find out in fare fight,
who is stronger in above mentioned domain.
Things go fast these days, especially in the technology field.
Not so long ago, the [Octane] speed test, considered as a standard in this field, counts as outdated.
Industry promotes [JetStream] . Ah, yeah, whatever.



Here are the results of the most relevant browsers to date.

Tests were done in Windows 7 x64 on a low-budget i3-3220 machine with 16Gb of RAM and internal GPU.
Only one tab with benchmark was opened.
Dot among numbers inserted for better readability.

  • 44 thread Broadwell here provided just for fun.
    In case of Xeon some not demanding process were running in the background during benchmark so real figures should be a tad higher.

Several commentaries regarding selected browsers.
It is obvious that Chromium engine is way faster than Firefox.
Even deprecated Chrome 109 demonstrates better performance than actual Firefox version.
But despite these conclusions i continue to use Firefox for it’s enhanced privacy and endless reconfigurability.
After FireFox 115 ESR will reach it’s EOL status i’ll switch to custom made [R3dFox] fork.
It goes without saying, that it is very nice to have such a good alternative to Firefox as [Supermium] browser.
It shows exceptional performance and i have a gut feeling that this browser will be the last one of my stay in Windows 7.
