▒ DIRECT COMPARISON

Today’s rival is [Huawei Pura 80 Ultra] , equipped with nearly the same sensor size on its periscope camera as found in Nokia 808.
Despite my earlier promise that [no more photography benchmarks] would appear on these pages, it seems I’ve broken that commitment.
As of 2025, having a 1" inch sensor on the primary camera has become less remarkable among self-respecting manufacturers.
And as a consequence it’s a common practice today and far less intriguing than before.
Therefore, in this brief analysis, we’ll focus specifically on the quality of 10× zoomed-in photographs.
I’m quite enthusiastic about exploring the potential of periscope cameras.
Currently, only two brands: Oppo and Vivo offer smartphones paired with high-quality external photographic attachments.
However, being a stubborn minimalist, I’d prefer carrying everything essential within one compact package rather than relying on bulky add-on equipment.
The Huawei Pura 80 Ultra stands out by utilizing 1/1.28" sensor dedicated solely to capturing 12-megapixel images at exactly 9.4× optical zoom.
The physical dimensions of this periscope sensor closely resemble those used in the iconic Nokia PureView 808, included here for fun & nostalgic reference.

Glitchy modern browsers can easily alter image quality during page rendering or badly construe scaling factors,
so i suggest to download original images from my cloud storage and pixel peep them at 100% manually.

The Huawei Pura 80 Ultra is a hardware-solid camera phone and it’s periscope lens delivers slightly sharper
images than the Xiaomi 15 Ultra’s, though the advantage is marginal due to Huawei’s excessive AI post-processing.

Moreover, in terms of raw resolution and fine detail, its 1-inch main sensor falls short even of
the 13-year-old resolution king - Nokia 808 PureView.
