░ DEINSTALLATION OF JUNK UPDATES

You can remove any of appointed patches by using two methods:

► via GUI of control panel ► via command line [like-a-boss]

First one is pretty self-explanatory.
To use the second one open command line with administrative privileges and type the following command:

wusa /uninstall /kb:3088195 /quiet /norestart

This will remove 3088195 update without restart of the system.

If you uninstalling such “updates” via control panel make sure to hide all updates that you have removed, as they will be picked up by Windows again the next time Windows Update checks for updates. To hide an update right mouse click on it and select “hide update” from context menu.

░ REMOVE TRACES FROM TELEMETRY UPDATES

Folders for removing:

Windows\System32\GWX
Windows\System32\CompatTel

NOTE: All content of the folders should be removed also. Before removing you may need to get appropriate permissions via Security tab in file explorer.

░ DISABLE SCHEDULED TASKS

Windows runs tons of tasks which sending your data back to Microsoft. All of them should be deleted.

START ► Run ► taskschd.msc

Navigate to Microsoft ► Windows in the task hierarchy, and disable [delete] the following tasks:

  • All tasks with Application Experience
  • All tasks with Autochk
  • All tasks with Customer Experience Improvement Program
  • DiskDiagnosticDataCollector under DiskDiagnostic
  • WinSAT under Maintenance
  • Deactivate all Media Center tasks
  • Time-5D, Logon-5D, MachineUnlock-5D, OutOfIdle-5D, OutOfSleep-5D, refreshgwxconfig, refreshgwxconfig-B, launchtrayprocess

░ DELETE TELEMETRY SERVICE

Spying servers which are gathering your personal private data: vortex-win.data.microsoft.com and settings-win.data.microsoft.com.

Your private data are collected by these suckers via TCP protocol trough encrypted tunnel using port 443. To disable tracking service execute following commands from administrative console:

sc stop "diagtrack"
sc config "diagtrack" start=disabled

To delete tracking service completely, execute this one:

sc delete "diagtrack"

If you follow the guide with attention we already disabled CEIP under SCHEDULED TASKS section. Nevertheless here is a way to disable it via GUI.

░ BLOCK MICROSOFT SERVERS

One of the easiest ways to block range of ip addresses without involving additional software is a hostfile.
It’s a plain txt file, which maps hostnames to IP addresses. We’ll use it for resource blocking to remove ads, banners & page counters.

HOST FILE LOCATION:

Windows:

%SystemRoot%\System32\drivers\etc\hosts

NOTE: in most cases it is located at C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts
It can be opened via basic notepad with admin privileges, otherwise all your changes will not be saved.

Examples

will block all files provided by ad.ads.com

0.0.0.0 ad.ads.com

will do the same, but for some people works a bit faster especially under Windows 8.x.

░ DISABLE/ENABLE WINDOWS UPDATE SERVICE

Updating of computer involves three services:

  • Background Intelligent Transfer
  • Windows Update
  • Trusted Installer

Last one is used every time when you are installing something new to your ‘puter.

DISABLE WINDOWS UPDATE

Open command line with admin privileges and execute the following:

net stop BITS
sc config "BITS" start=disabled 

net stop wuauserv
sc config "wuauserv" start=disabled

Optional stuff for paranoids:

net stop TrustedInstaller
sc config "TrustedInstaller" start=disabled

NOTE: TrustedInstaller should be enabled if you’d like to install some new software in the future.
In case you would like to do some updates here is procedure on how to turn everything back.

ENBLE WINDOWS UPDATE

sc config "BITS" start=auto 
net start BITS

sc config "wuauserv" start=auto 
net start wuauserv

sc config "TrustedInstaller" start=auto
