Advanced Explorer Renaming Technique You Probably Never Heard Of

Advanced Explorer Renaming Technique You Probably Never Heard Of

Despite the fact that i almost do not use standard file explorer and consider it as a tool for amateurs,
especially when we have wonderful orthodox [Far] file and archive manager for really advanced workflows,
I have a gut feeling that i must share this not so famous windows explorer information with my readers.

Say we have three various folders we need to rename simultaneously.

Put a cursor to the last one and press [SHIFT] + [HOME],
to select all folders up to the top directory.

Say we need to get rid of second word in the naming for all folders.

Press [F2], remove word “One”, hit [CTRL] + [ENTER], and ta-da,
our folders magically renamed in a snap of fingers!

Be aware that we are talking about Windows 7/8 here, i don’t have idea if it is working in 10/11 or not.
Hope that they are not so f#ckin’ dumb to remove functionality for advanced users, but who really knows…

Ok, since i am in a neat mood today i’ll you give some more useful hints.

  • did you know that you can close windows by double clicking left corner of the window?
  • did you know that you can transfer window to another monitor without touching the mouse
by pressing [WIN] + [SHIFT] + [LEFT] / [RIGHT] ?
  • did you know that the fastest way to open elevated command line with administrative rights
is to press [CTRL] + [SHIFT] + [ESC], then select File and while holding [CTRL] click New Task… ?

So, stick with the project and you will learn quite unusual things not lying around on the surface.
