DON'T GET YOURSELF HACKED ▀ WINDOWS 7 SECURITY IN 2024

Recently my personal desktop at home has been subjected to multiple hacking attempts.
Attacks were scattered and came from different IP addresses. They were all of a different nature.
Most likely it was automatic security hacking bot searching for vulnerable systems or a script kiddie pretending to be a hacker.

At first my computer was attacked using teardrop attack. This was repeated multiple times in a row.

Simply speaking, teardrop is a type of network attack in which an attacker uses fragmented packets to overload network devices and
penetrate the security of network. This can be accomplished, by sending large numbers of fragmented packets with incorrect flags or headers
that cause network devices to malfunction and overload the system. The attack can be used to disable network devices or even take control of them.
Windows 9x and Windows NT4 operating systems are heavily prone to this type of attack.

After a while there was a generic SMB attack. And again attacker do not gain any profit because corresponding service was just turned off completely.
And i do not expose any network shares to the WEB.

A few hours later there was an attack targeting Nvidia video driver components, which was also neglected by installed firewall.

In the end of the day [Agnitum Outpost firewall] , which was installed in the system, reflected all above mentioned attacks without any hassles,
proving the concept that good “obsolete” software works like it should no matter what.

So, Windows 7 users should keep their eyes peeled. Note that, and be strong!
