CURRENTLY TEST IS NOT OPTIMIZED FOR MOBILE VIEW! IMAGE WIDTH >1600px IS RECOMMENDED!

▒ DIRECT COMPARISON

In the very beginning of the test I underline the fact that we are comparing only resolution and not the dynamic range. In this category older FSI sensor is an outsider, for sure. Today’s rival is [IPHUCK 13 PRO HYPER MAX] with unknown sensor, even GSMarena don’t know actual size of it [after [some research] i find out that it is somewhere around 1/1.65"]. As you may already know Nokia PureView 808 comes with 1/1.2" FSI sensor. Now let’s see how Nokia will hold up against rotten apple.

Glitchy modern browsers can easily alter image quality during page rendering or badly construe scaling factors, so i suggest to download original images from my cloud storage and pixel peep them at 100% manually.

ON THE RIGHT SIDE IS NOKIA PUREVIEW 808

ANGLE OF PICTURES AND FOCUS POINTS DIFFER A BIT DUE TO DIFFERENT FOCAL DISTANCES OF THE DEVICES AND LIMITED AMOUNT OF TIME TO DO A TEST. IT'S BETTER THAN NOTHING AND IT WILL GIVE US SOME FOOD FOR THOUGHT.

UPCLOSE TEST

In upclose test iphuck’s compute processing saves it from failure.
And despite smaller sensor imagery looks almost a tad sharper than 808.
But if we apply neat raster editing to Nokia file…

I think that any commentaries are redundant here.

Apple resellers promised to send me DNG files in a while. So stay sharp for update.
They broke an agreement and don’t sent promised RAW files.
This is a second store i’ve visited.
PS Sellers at first store don’t even know about RAW support at all.

▒ BOTTOM LINE

NO SURPRISE. AGAIN.

What was the big suprise to me is that iphuck 13 doesn’t support ISO setting. I’m simply amazed to say the least.
Phone outputs generic for modern cameraphones dynamic range. So nothing special here. Top Samsungs can do better.
Nokia PureView 808 firmly shows stong details, as always. Yeah.

Conclusions regarding Nokia 808 are quite usual:
color and dynamic range are poor due to the sensor age, but can be corrected in your favorite raster editor without any problems.
