The [plot of the movie]
is quite trivial and simple, the main essence of the film lies in stunning acting, outstanding operator’s work, incredible landscape views and, of course, dramatic soundtrack. Luckily it is not epic sh#t with fanfares and other super-hero nonsense. Pure atmospheric ambient drones fill the story with a sense of completeness.

If you’re tired of cliche Hollywood movies that definitely don’t belong to an art and you want to see a really artistic performance, I can suggest two movies by Dutch director: [Scheider vs. Bax]
and [Waiter]
. I think that these movies represent the peak of Alex Carrier. All of them are a fine mixture of subtle Nordic humor paired with totally unexpected dramatic events that will easily dissolve your longing for some really neat fine art.
Some really progressive techno trance stuff dedicated to cyberpunk, virtual reality and AI things.

You can say what you want, but the fact that the 90s is the golden age of the coolest SciFi is an undeniable fact. Despite its rather simple and somewhat childish plot, [FIFTH ELEMENT]
raises quite important questions about human existence. From a design point of view, I like the fact that the movie mostly shows real decorations, not just soulless computer graphics, which certainly adds analog warmth to the movie.
I think that [LOVE, DEATH AND ROBOTS]
is quite overrated. Most of the episodes are true beauties in terms of drawing quality, but the plot leaves much to be desired in most cases.

Here is a list of the most cool episodes by my standards. So you don’t have to waste your valuable time on obvious junk.

[Save the green planet]
is a totally unexpected find. Tired of cliche-crap hollywood “comedies” that are not even remotely fun to watch? THEN TRY THIS! Nice blend of mature black humor is always a bargain, especially in 2024.

I am not an adept of the [EBM music]
genre. Music that exists at the intersection of punk and industrial music cultures. It is generally accepted that it originated in Belgium. [Mildreda]
is a recent and moreover pretty interesting musical discovery on the modern electronic scene. Here are two tracks which i find pretty neat. Imagine all the aesthetics of EBM submerged into trancy [Aes Dana]
vibes, backed by [Prodigy]
breakbeat and wrapped into [Underworld]
synth riffs.
Take a break from the classic retrowave aesthetic and dive into the world of trancy dub patterns spiced up with eastern sound waves. Exceptionally groovy track with funky bass and subtle 303 synth lines from the highly talented UK music producer.

If you were a fan of the original Fallout series, you already know Mark Morgan, one of the most unique composers of the 90s. His soundtrack for Fallout 1/2 has already status of a classic masterpiece in the game OST genre.
Today I would like to introduce you to [Andrew Lahiff]
. He makes exceptionally good space ambient tracks that sometimes resemble the atmosphere of Fallout.
Just listen to these tracks:
If you are fond of computer related stuff in parallel with films, then you are probably familiar with [Simon Boswell]
. If you don’t know what i am talking about just listen to these.

Ok, we are almost in the middle of the summer. Some words about computer music history to celebrate this.
Onestop.mid is a midi file found within the Windows Media folder on most Windows starting from Windows XP back in the 90s. It was composed by David Yackley. Despite Wikipedia assurance that the main purpose of it was an easter egg thing, music was mostly used as a troubleshooting demo song for Microsoft technicians, which was available on almost all Windows installations.
I know that significant amount of visitors come here to acquire quality retrowave stuff, but today i’ve decided to stir things up a bit to bring a piece of variety and freshness to the webpage.
Here is some solid trip-hop into your years. This soundtrack comes from Belorussian noir-RPG game [Backbone]
.
